This was a fun day – our wonderful guide picked us up in a boat at the hotel dock and we had a delightful … ride to Monkey River. We saw crocs, blue herons, iguanas and some monkeys on the way. Stopped in the village for lunch and shopping (bring some cash and be prepared to buy some cool wood bowls or masks and tip lunch staff, they depend on these tours and we were happy to support them!) and went into the forest for a hike.
We could hear monkeys screaming but could not see them but our guide Doyle was determined so he followed the sounds and we were able to see a pack of monkeys in their natural habitat – he took extra time with us to make sure we had a good day.
On the boat ride back, he maneuvered the boat to make sure we saw dolphins and manatees. Wear closed toe shoes for the forest part and bug spray. I’d highly recommend this company – we also rented a golf cart from them and they brought it to the hotel and picked it up from there for a small extra charge. Could not be happier with their service and the friendliness of the staff.
